Installing DualShock 3 Trigger Buttons

What you need

  1. Installing DualShock 3 Trigger Buttons, Rear Cover: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the five 7.2 mm Phillips screws securing the rear cover to the controller.

    • Press on the rear cover between the analog sticks and slightly lift the lower edge of it away from the rest of the controller.

    • Push the rear cover slightly toward the top edge of the controller to clear the front edge of the #2 triggers.

    • Pull the rear cover away from the rest of the controller, being careful not to pop off the #2 triggers.

    • If you happen to accidentally pop off the trigger buttons, we have a trigger button guide to reattach them.

    • While holding the black plastic trigger retainer with one hand, pull the #2 trigger off of its axle.

    • When reinstalling the #2 trigger, be sure the spring is positioned as shown before popping the axle back into place.

    • Pull the black plastic trigger retainer slightly away from the front cover.

    • Pull the #1 button out of the front cover.

    • Before sliding the trigger button retainer back into the rails molded into the front cover, be sure that the cylindrical post attached to the #1 button is sitting flat on the green rubber electronic switch cover. Failure to do so may lead to problems with fit during reassembly, and may cause the controller to not recognize inputs from the #1 button during operation.

    • The trigger button assembly is properly installed when the lip on the trigger button retainer sits flat against the motherboard.
