Introduction

This guide will allow you to replace the keyboard completely. You may need to remove this in order to replace the screen.

Parts

No parts required.

Image 1/1: Make your way around the outside of the keyboard.
  • Pry up the top of the cover first. Use a spudger to wedge in between the cover and base of the computer.

  • Make your way around the outside of the keyboard.

  • Cracking sounds are normal. Be careful and take your time removing this panel.

  • Prior to prying up on the cover, you may have to first remove one screw located inside the battery compartment (M2X3) and release the two (2) latches or you'll snap the cover.

Image 1/1: The mouse pad is connected to the rest of the computer via two cables underneath the cover. These cables must be unhooked before the cover can be completely removed.
  • Work your hands around the cover. Use your hands to pull up the rest of the cover.

  • Unhook mouse pad cables by flipping up the black tabs holding the cable in place.

  • Slowly lift the top of the keyboard and then pull the keyboard towards the screen.

Image 1/1: You may then disassemble the cables from the base of the computer.
  • Using a spudger, slowly open up the black clip holding down the cable.

  • You may then disassemble the cables from the base of the computer.

  • Once released, you may pull the keyboard away completely.
