Introduction

The top chassis plate with not remove completely without complete dis-assembly of the screen and hinges. It only needs to be lifted up and held in place while removing the speaker system.

  • Be careful not to pull too hard on the keyboard as it is still attached to the laptop by the ribbon connector.

  • Using the plastic opening tool push up on the black clip holding the connector ribbon.

  • Pull out the ribbon connector to remove the keyboard.

With the laptop facing down remove one 4.7mm screw holding in the CD ROM unit. Gently pull out on the CD ROM unit and remove it from the chassis. Remove three 4.7mm screws located below where the CD ROM unit was inserted.

Using a plastic opening tool carefully pry upwards on the edges of the top of the chassis. Sliding the opening tool along the lip of the top plate will release the clips holding the top and bottom plate together, allowing access to the inside of the laptop.

With the front of the top chassis plate lifted up locate the computer's speaker in the front right of the internal area. Remove the two 5.5mm screws holding the speaker in place.
