Dell Precision 5530 Battery Replacement

What you need

    • Ensure that your work surface is flat and clean to prevent the computer cover from being scratched.

    • Turn off your computer.

    • Disconnect all network cables from the computer (if available).

    • Disconnect your computer and all attached devices from their electrical outlets.

    • Press and hold the power button for few seconds, to ground the system board.

    • Close the display and turn the computer over.

    • Turn the system badge flap over and then remove the M2x8.5 screws that secure the base cover to the computer.

    • Remove the M2x3 T5 screws that secure the base cover to the computer.

    • Pry the edges of the base cover and lift it to remove it from the computer.

    • Pry the edges of the base cover and lift it to remove it from the computer. Consider using a spudger.

    • Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.

    • Remove the M2x4 screws that secure the battery to the computer.

    • Lift the battery off the computer.

Conclusion

To replace the battery & reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

This is not a Precision 5530 2 in 1. Instructions are very similar, but the battery connector is in the middle of the unit and there are two screws that go over top of battery connector connecting a heat sink. Secondly, there are no screws in the middle of the cover, only around the perimeter.

Also, worth noting that the cover is very difficult to remove the first time.
