Introduction
If you own one of these laptops, it is well know the i7 models do not get along with the 6 cell battery. Use this laptop to install an appropriate battery or replace a worn out one.
Note: If you have a slice battery installed, this will need to be removed first.
This guide will also show you where the Windows 7 COA is located. You will need this to reload Windows unless you have Dell SLIC media.
Windows 8.1 Pro systems store the key in the BIOS, so you will not find a COA on these laptops.

If you hibernate your system: Start the hiberation process and let your system do what it needs to. It will shut off once finished.

Sleep mode: Select Sleep and the computer will be done relatively quickly. However, the power adapter will need to be plugged in.

Flip the laptop over, and flip the 2 battery tabs open. The tabs will remain like this until the battery is re-installed.

Remove the battery from the computer. Pull the battery up from the back of the battery, and set the battery aside.

Align the battery with the tabs on the back of the laptop. Once this is done, drop the battery in place and it should lock in. If not, put light pressure on the battery to lock it in.
