Introduction

Replacing or upgrading the Ram on a Dell Inspiron 910.

Parts

No parts required.

Turn the laptop over to where the battery is facing upwards and towards you. Locate the release tabs located on either sides of the battery. Push the release tabs toward the center of the device.
  • Turn the laptop over to where the battery is facing upwards and towards you.

  • Remove the battery.

  • Take the replacement battery and insert it into the laptop the same way the old battery was removed.

  • Slide the release tabs back into place.

Ensure that the laptop is shut.

  • Flip the laptop over, so that you can see where the battery was taken out.

There should be a large black panel with slits visible, and two screws holding it in place.

  • Using your Philips 0 screwdriver, unscrew both of the screws.

Now that the screws have been removed, you should be able to remove the panel.  This may require some force.

After the panel has been removed, you should see two green circuit boards affixed to a larger blue circuit board.

  • Don't worry about the one with wires attached, the RAM is the other circuit board.

  • Look for the silver tabs on either side of the white plastic holding the RAM in place.

  • Using your index fingers, lift both tabs. The RAM should partially "pop" out.

Gently pull the RAM out of the plastic.

To reinsert the RAM, or install new RAM, place it in the same position the removed RAM was in after lifting the tabs.

Depress the RAM until it locks into place; there should be an audible clicking noise when it does so.

  • Press the RAM into the white plastic so that the gold tabs are barely visible.

  • Congratulations! You have completed the guide.
