Introduction

Replacing or upgrading the Ram on a Dell Inspiron 910.

Parts

No parts required.

Turn the laptop over to where the battery is facing upwards and towards you.
  • Turn the laptop over to where the battery is facing upwards and towards you.

  • Locate the release tabs located on either side of the battery.

  • Push the release tabs toward the center of the device.

  • Remove the battery.

Take the replacement battery, insert it into the original position  in the laptop.
  • Take the replacement battery, insert it into the original position in the laptop.

  • Slide the release tabs back into place.

Power off the laptop.
  • Power off the laptop.

  • Disconnect any cables or external devices from the laptop.

  • Turn the laptop over to remove the battery.

  • Turn the laptop over to where the battery is facing upwards and towards you.

  • Locate the release tabs located on either side of the battery.

  • Push the release tabs toward the center of the device.

  • Remove the battery.

Locate a large black panel with two screws holding the slits in place.

  • Unscrew both of the screws using a Philips Screwdriver.

Remove the panel. Removing the panel may require some force.

After removing the panel, locate two green circuit boards affixed to a larger blue circuit board.
  • After removing the panel, locate two green circuit boards affixed to a larger blue circuit board.

  • Ignore the circuit board with the wires attached.

  • Look for the silver tabs on either side of the white plastic holding the RAM in place.

  • Using your index fingers, lift both tabs. The RAM should "pop" out.

Pull the RAM out of the plastic.
  • Pull the RAM out of the plastic.

  • To reinsert the RAM, or install new RAM, place RAM in the same position the removed RAM was in after lifting the tabs.

Depress the RAM until it locks into place; there should be an audible clicking noise when it does so.

  • Press the RAM into the white plastic so that the gold tabs are almost impossible to see.

  • Congratulations! You have completed the guide.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
