Introduction

By following the steps in this guide one should be able to replace the trackpad on your device (Dell Inspiron 7568)

Image 1/2: Remove the bottom cover Image 2/2: Remove the bottom cover
  • Unscrew & remove the ten 7mm screws (using a ph1 screwdriver) holding the bottom cover

  • Remove the bottom cover

Image 1/2: Unhinge the connector cable to the batttery Image 2/2: Remove the battery
  • Unscrew & remove the four 3mm screws (using the ph1 screwdriver bit) holding the battery

  • Unhinge the connector cable to the batttery

  • Remove the battery

  • Unplug the speaker cable and remove the speakers

Image 1/2: Remove the touchpad bracket Image 2/2: Remove the touchpad bracket
  • Unscrew & remove the two 3mm screws (using a ph1 screwdriver bit) holding the touchpad bracket

  • Remove the touchpad bracket

Image 1/3: Use a nylon spudger to lift the ZIF connector tab. Gently pull the keyboard daughter board ribbon cable free. Image 2/3: Use a nylon spudger to lift the ZIF connector tab. Gently pull the keyboard daughter board ribbon cable free. Image 3/3: Use a nylon spudger to lift the ZIF connector tab. Gently pull the keyboard daughter board ribbon cable free.
  • Use a nylon spudger to lift the ZIF connector tab. Gently pull the touchpad ribbon cable free.

  • Use a nylon spudger to lift the ZIF connector tab. Gently pull the keyboard daughter board ribbon cable free.

Image 1/3: Unscrew & remove the three 2mm wafer screws holding the touchpad. Image 2/3: Remove the touchpad. Image 3/3: Remove the touchpad.
  • Remove the touchpad foil using a spudger or other ESD safe blunt-tip tool.

  • Unscrew & remove the three 2mm wafer screws holding the touchpad.

  • Remove the touchpad.
