Cub Cadet Z-Force 48 Oil Change

What you need

    • Before you begin, ensure the mower is turned off, the engine has cooled, and it is in park.

    • Place the drain pan under the drain.

    • Hold the tip of the oil drain hose with the closed end of a 3/4-inch combination wrench.

    • Use the open end of the 1/2 inch combination wrench to loosen the oil drain plug.

    • Finish loosening the drain plug with your hands and remove it.

    • Let the oil drain into the drain pan.

    • Reinsert the drain plug and tighten it with the open end of a 1/2-inch combination wrench.

    • Use a torque wrench to tighten 13.6 N·m (10 ft. lb.).

    • Remove the old oil filter.

    • If the oil filter is too tight, use oil filter pliers to loosen before removal.

    • Replace the soiled paper towels underneath the oil filter mount.

    • Wipe the oil filter mount clean with paper towels.

    • Install the new oil filter, hand tightening the filter clockwise.

    • Tighten the oil filter until the rubber gasket contacts the oil filter mount, then tighten an additional 3/4-1 turn.

    • Fill the engine with the amount and type of oil specified in your owner's manual.

    • Put the oil fill cap back into place.

    • For this mower, any service class SG, SH, SJ, or higher oil can be used.

    • Start the engine and check for leaks.

    • Stop the engine and allow the oil to drain down.

    • Remove the oil fill cap and check the dipstick to ensure that the oil is to the full mark.
