Cleaning/Degreasing Heat Sink

Introduction

Cleaning the heat sink improves thermal efficiency and overall performance of the engine. It makes sure no debris gets trapped in any opening.

What you need

  1. Cleaning/Degreasing Heat Sink, Cleaning Debris from Flywheel Screen: step 1, image 1 of 3 Cleaning/Degreasing Heat Sink, Cleaning Debris from Flywheel Screen: step 1, image 2 of 3 Cleaning/Degreasing Heat Sink, Cleaning Debris from Flywheel Screen: step 1, image 3 of 3

    • Ensure the engine is off and cooled down before starting this guide.

    • Using a 5/16" socket or wrench, remove the three bolts holding the plastic cover on to the engine.

    • Lift away the plastic cover. Note that the starter is attached to the cover and will come off with it.

    • Using compressed air or a rag, clean debris from the flywheel.

    • Using compressed air and a rag, clean the heat sink.
