Due to the nature of lawn mowers, over time large amounts of debris and grass cuttings accumulate and can harm the engine's performance.

Using a 5/16" socket or wrench, remove the three bolts holding the plastic cover on to the engine.

Lift away the plastic cover. Note that the starter is attached to the cover and will come off with it.
