Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS Image Capture Button Replacement

What you need

  1. Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS Image Capture Button Replacement, Image Capture Button: step 1, image 1 of 2 Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS Image Capture Button Replacement, Image Capture Button: step 1, image 2 of 2
    • Use a Phillips #00 driver to remove the four 2.0 mm Phillips screws on the camera housing.

    • There are two screws on either side.

    • Use a Phillips #1 driver to remove the one 4.0 mm Phillips screw located on the bottom of the camera.

    • Remove the face housing from the body of the camera.

    • Turn the camera over and remove the rear housing.

    • Remove the button panel if it did not fall out on its own.

    • Use a Phillips #0 driver to remove the one 3.0 mm Phillips copper screw from the top of the camera.

    • This screw is only visible after the front and rear panels have been removed.

    • Use a Phillips #0 driver to remove the one 3.0 mm Phillips silver screw from the rear face of the camera.

    • Use a plastic spudger to lift the golden film off of the microchip on the front face of the camera, exposing a screw.

    • Use a Phillips #0 driver to remove the one 3.0 mm Phillips screw.

    • Use a metal spudger to carefully pry the small black tab away from the connector that secures one end of the golden film.

    • When fully released, the small black tab will stand up straight from the face of the camera and the golden film will no longer be secured.

    • Carefully insert a metal spudger under the two clusters of wires that are plugged into the small chip on the face of the camera.

    • One cluster of wires is red, the other cluster is black.

    • Pull the wires parallel to the face of the camera to disconnect them from the small chip.

    • The image capture button housing can now be removed from the body of the camera and replaced.
