Introduction
Here is a Bulova Accutron Quartz Model 242. Apparently it had obtained water damage almost immediately after it was purchased in 1979. Now the owner found it again and would love to get it looked at. At this point the only thing that is being done is the replacement of the battery to determine if that will solicit any signs of life.
What you need
-
-
Here is the back of the pocket watch. Honestly, no idea how to open it
-
By careful inspecting the sides of the lid a small area showed a slight difference which will allow a small screwdriver or similar tool to pry on the lid
-
A small screwdriver is used to pop the lid open
-
-
-
Looks like the original battery was removed years ago. This watch was water damaged 30years ago.
-
Green corrosion stains on the movement are evident and this watch will most likely require further work
-
Here is the replacement battery. The original battery would have been marked as a "Bulova 242" but those apparently are no longer available. The replacement is a "Renata 344" with same specs.
