BlackBerry Curve 8900 Microphone Replacement

Step 1 Microphone

• Slide the battery cover out from the back of the device with your fingers
• Press the cover to slide it off the device
• Then remove the battery by pulling it out from the back of the phone.
• The battery is shown outside of the device on the right side of the photograph, "BlackBery D-X18."
Step 2

• Using a plastic pry tool or flat head screw driver, remove (snap? slide off?) the lower rear cover.
• The lower rear cover can be found at the bottom of the back of the device. (Shown in the photo to the right of the phone.
Step 3
• Use a Philips head mini screwdriver to remove six screws, indicated from the midframe of the device.
• Indicated from the midframe of the device.
• Unscrew the six screws that are indicated by 6 red circles on the photograph (top right, top left, middle right, middle left, bottom right, bottom left).
Step 4
• carefully seperate the midframe from the phone.
Step 5
• Gently pry back the plastic tabs that secure the motherboard to the case.
• Slowly work your way around the case until the tabs until the motherboard comes free.
• The plastic tabs are indicated by the red circles on the photograph (black rectangle pieces shown on the far left and far right).
Step 6
• Remove the screen carefully so as not to damage it.
Step 7
• Carefully unhook the antenna cable in all three locations.
Step 8
• Detach the ribbon cable on the front of the motherboard.
Step 9
• Tilt the motherboard up and detach both ribbon connections.
Step 10
• Replace the entire motherboard to replace the microphone (circled in red).
