Black and Decker 7.2V Power Drill Chuck Replacement

Introduction

Different versions of a power drill contain different instructions for replacing parts. The Black and Decker 9099KC, is no exception. Powered by a gear driven system of rotation, the chuck requires extra attention to detail to successfully repair. This guide illustrates the various procedures required to successfully replace the chuck piece of a Black and Decker 9099KC power drill.

What you need

  1. Black and Decker 7.2V Power Drill Chuck Replacement, Chuck: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • Face the drill so that the chuck and trigger are pointed to the right

    • Use a Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the eight screws from the side of the drill.

    • Pull the side case of the drill apart, exposing the internal components.

    • Be sure to keep all of the components in their sockets as you close the drill so that none of the wires get pinched while reassembling.

    • Unhook the intermediary gear connecting the drive motor to the chuck by lifting it up, then sliding it to the left of the chuck.

    • Firmly lift the chuck upwards to separate it from the shell of the power drill.

    • Insert the ball joint of the intermediary gear into the bracket attached to the new chuck.

    • Place both the new chuck and intermediary gear into the drill case simultaneously.
