Introduction
This guide documents the replacement of the power switch on the Bissell Featherweight Lightweight vacuum cleaner. A faulty power switch in the vacuum renders the device unusable. When performing the repair please ensure that the device is not connected to a power source as the repair involves working with exposed metal connections.
What you need

Separate the filter from the electronics housing by pressing the grey latch.

Unscrew the electronic housing screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Remove the front panel.

Identify the switch within the internal electronics.

The switch is connected to the rest of the circuit via two terminals with one terminal covered by a blue heat shrink tube.

Remove the switch from the clasps. Use a spudger to push down on the metal tab and pull the switch terminal away.

When removing the blue heat shrink side just pull the heat shrink below the metal terminal.

Reattach the outer panel of the electronic housing.

Ensure that the switch is flush against both sides.

Reattach the electronics to the filter component of the vacuum and test the switch by powering the vacuum and turning it on and off.
