This guide will walk you though how to replace a rotted fence post.
Fence posts are the main supporting structure for every fence. If even one of them rots or becomes damaged, the whole fence can come down. This can lead to a very costly repair.
This repair can be demanding and possibly dangerous so make sure to wear safety glasses, close toed shoes, and work gloves. Always make sure to be careful when using heavier tools that this repair requires, keep a clean area, and stay focused.

Measure the damaged post to purchase the replacement.

Take photo of post and take note of where the boards are connected.

Clear out work area of any clutter or hazards.

Use a shovel to dig a deep hole around the post until you expose the concrete below the soil.

If necessary you can attempt to break off the top of the post to allow for more room. The pickaxe can be a good tool for this.

Make sure to keep the excess dirt in a small pile, as this is what you need to fill the hole.
