Asus ROG GL551J RAM Replacement

Introduction

Use this guide to replace the RAM on your Asus ROG GL551J. Make sure that any new RAM has a DDR3 connection type to correctly fit into this device.

What you need

Step 1 Battery

Lay the device on a flat surface with the battery facing up.
Be sure to wear ESD or Rubber gloves to protect the computer components.

Push the latch found below the battery to the unlock position.

Pull the battery out.

Remove the two screws securing the access panel to the laptop.

Slide access panel out and remove.

Place thumbs on the locking tabs of both sides of the RAM stick and push outwards to unlock.

RAM should pop up at about 45 degrees. Pull outwards with fingers on the side of the RAM to remove.
