Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation Speaker Replacement

Introduction

If the speaker of your Amazon Echo Dot 3rd Generation sounds muffled or is distorted in any way, the speaker may need to be replaced. Follow this guide to do so.

The cone shape of your Echo Dot allows your speaker to transmit Alexa's voice in an echo that should ideally carry through the room your device is in.

Check the speaker for other potential causes of sound disruption. Potential causes may include the mesh surrounding your Echo Dot being clouded with debris. Your Echo Dot could also be too close to another device such as a microwave that will cause interference.

Before attempting, make sure the Echo Dot is turned off and unplugged from the external power source.

What you need

    • Turn the Echo Dot over so the barcode is facing up, giving you access to the bottom of the device.

    • Use a spudger to gently lift the adhesive covering between the casing and the device.

    • Use a T6 Torx screwdriver to remove the four 7.2 mm screws located around the corners of the device.

    • Make sure to keep the screws in a safe place for the reassembly process.

    • Gently lift the casing of the device, starting from one side.

    • If the casing is stuck, use the spudger to carefully loosen it along the edges.

    • Be careful not to damage any internal components of the device.

    • Remove the four black 8.4 mm screws surrounding the speaker using a JIS #1 screwdriver.

    • Use a spudger to pry the speaker out of the device.

I'm not sure if this is gonna work, but I have found a speaker on Amazon which is of the same size, almost the same wattage and same impedance. I'm only not sure about the depth of the speaker.

If you have a new one and the bass is a bit rattly just losten the speaker screws push lightly on the speaker whilst tightening the screws back up. It reduces the pressure and keeps the driver from hitting the case or moving to far out
