Introduction

Use this guide to replace the LED/speaker and microphone board in the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd generation. Both the LED, speaker, and microphone are located on the same board within the device. The whole board must be replaced, rather than each individual component.

  1. Power off and unplug the echo Using the plastic opening tool, peel off the rubber layer on the bottom of the echo. Using the plastic opening tool, peel off the rubber layer on the bottom of the echo.
    • Power off and unplug the echo

    • Using the plastic opening tool, peel off the rubber layer on the bottom of the echo.

  2. Use the T8 screwdriver bit to unscrew the four 1.6mm torx screws Remove the black cylindrical base Remove the black cylindrical base
    • Use the T8 screwdriver bit to unscrew the four 1.6mm torx screws

    • Remove the black cylindrical base

  3. Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector Remove the ribbon cable from the slot Remove the ribbon cable from the slot
    • Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector

    • Remove the ribbon cable from the slot

  5. Remove the motherboard
    • Remove the motherboard

  6. Remove the silver divider Remove black rubber divider Remove the plastic white frame
    • Remove the silver divider

  7. Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector Remove the ribbon cable from the slot on the LED/speaker board Remove the ribbon cable from the slot on the LED/speaker board
    • Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector

    • Remove the ribbon cable from the slot on the LED/speaker board

  8. Remove the LED/speaker board
    • Remove the LED/speaker board

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
