ASUS VivoBook S400C RAM Replacement/Upgrade

What you need

  1. ASUS VivoBook S400C RAM Replacement/Upgrade, Remove the Bottom Cover: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Flip the device over and remove the ten 5.7 mm screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Use a spudger or your fingers to go around and lift the edges and release the back panel.

  3. ASUS VivoBook S400C RAM Replacement/Upgrade, Disconnect the Battery: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Using a spudger, lift up the plug connecting the battery to the motherboard.

    • Hook a thumbnail in each of the metal retainers on either side of the RAM module and spread them apart slightly.

    • The RAM module will pop up at an angle.

    • Slide the RAM out in a straight line to remove it.

    • When replacing the RAM, insert it at the same angle and be sure to slide it fully into the slot before snapping it down. The latches on the sides should fit exactly into the cutouts on the side of the memory module.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

i bought an crucial 2gb 204-pin ddr3L dimm pc3-10 1600mhz 1.35v. and it won't turn on with it installed, is there something wrong?

Hi Kenechi,

From what I can see, the RAM you bought sounds like it should be compatible with your VivoBook. One thing you might try is to update your BIOS; it is quite common for the BIOS to get updated to support newer RAM modules as they come out, so it's possible you're running an older version that doesn't have the configuration for the RAM you bought.

I'd suggest doing a BIOS update then get back to us and let us know what you find, if it works after that or not.
