    • Open the trunk of the vehicle.

    • View the side flap for whichever side has the dead bulb. (This is the left side view.)

    • Pull the flap up and locate the brake light.

    • The flap may need some extra force to open because the cutouts are typically not cut all the way through.

    • Twist the socket counterclockwise to gain access to the brake light.

    • Push down slightly and twist the bulb counterclockwise to remove the dead bulb.

    • Pay attention to the protrusions located on the bottom of the bulb. You will need to align these protrusions with the socket when inserting the new bulb.

    • Insert the new bulb into the socket and twist the bulb clockwise to secure it into place.

When I followed the instructions in reverse order as instructed to reassemble everything, I ended up with the old bulb back in the vehicle. Is there any way to fix this?
