Pull the hood release lever.
This lever is located inside the cabin of the car to the left of the pedals.

Pull up on the hood slightly and lift the safety latch.
The hood will not open unless the safety latch has been lifted.

Open the hood and hold it with one hand.
Grab the prop rod in the other hand.
Insert the prop rod into one of the slots in the hood to secure it in place.
Make sure the prop rod is secure in the slot otherwise the hood may fall.

Unclip the wiring harness from the retaining clamps with a flathead screwdriver.
Pull the wiring harness out of the clamps.

Unscrew the four cover-mounting screws holding the air filter cover on.
The screws do not come out of the filter housing.

Separate the housing halves to access the air filter element.
