Introduction

This is to show how to replace the lift supports of the rear hatch. The hatch is quite heavy so use some sort of support or an assistant when changing the supports. the left and right strut are identically mounted. All steps apply to either side

  • Open the tail gate and either prop it up or use an assistant to hold it.

  • The tail gate is heavy and will fall if not properly supported.

  • The struts are fastened with T-40 Torx head bolts.

  • Using a t-40 Torx driver to loosen the bolt

  • Completely loosen the bolt securing the strut to the top of the tailgate with a T-40 driver.

  • Replace the worn strut with a new one.
