This guide explains how to remove the radio in a 1995-2001 Honda CRV.

  1. Remove the clips in the glovebox by pushing them in. Remove the 13mm screws holding the glove box frame. Remove the 13mm screws holding the glove box frame.
    • Remove the clips in the glovebox by pushing them in.

    • Remove the 13mm screws holding the glove box frame.

  2. Open the fold-down pocket Remove the six 13mm screws attaching the pocket. Remove the six 13mm screws attaching the pocket.
    • Open the fold-down pocket

    • Remove the six 13mm screws attaching the pocket.

  3. Unsnap each side of the trim panel from the center console. Unsnap each side of the trim panel from the center console.
    • Unsnap each side of the trim panel from the center console.

  4. Remove the two screws from the driver-side dashboard. Pull the dashboard until it snaps off. Pull the dashboard until it snaps off.
    • Remove the two screws from the driver-side dashboard.

    • Pull the dashboard until it snaps off.

  5. Pull off the center dash. Remove the 13mm screws connecting the console to the frame.
    • Pull off the center dash.

    • Remove the 13mm screws connecting the console to the frame.

  6. Unplug the cigarette lighter and A/C Controls.
    • Unplug the cigarette lighter and A/C Controls.

    • Remove the unplugged lighter and controls. Use caution to avoid damaging the wires.

  7. Remove the console. Unclip the radio wires.
    • Remove the console.

    • Unclip the radio wires.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

I had a single DIN ALPINE stereo “professionally” installed in my late dad’s 2001 CRV. Two weeks after the install, it starts to rattle, had a broken aftermarket single DIN radio already installed, NEVER rattled! Now, I just discovered that if I put my hand in the tray under the new radio, the whole console piece with the radio and HVAC knobs just slides out! Did they forget the 13mm side screws that hold it in??? Or, damaged something else back there? Very upset!!! Any ideas??
