1 Download

1.1 Safety precautions

A power failure during the download procedure may damage the initial program loader on the respective assembly.

Carry out a download only when the EvitaXL is connected to the mains voltage supply.

Risk of damage to the initial program loader in the EvitaXL if the power saving function is activated on the service laptop computer.

Always connect the service laptop computer to the mains power supply before carrying out a download.

Risk of damage to the initial program loader in the EvitaXL if background programs are activated.

Before carrying out a download, deactivate all screensavers, virus scanners, or indexing functions (e.g. from Microsoft). Read also the chapters GLYPH<147>HelpGLYPH<147> and GLYPH<147>Questions and AnswersGLYPH<147> mentioned in the DrGLYPH<228>gerService software.

1.2 Downloading the device software to the DrGLYPH<228>gerService software

  • 1 Connect the service PC to the mains power supply.
  • 2 Switch on the service PC.
  • 3 After the service PC has started, insert the GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> disk or CD-ROM in the service PC drive.
  • 4 Start the GLYPH<147>service softwareGLYPH<147> program.

  • 5 Confirm by clicking on the GLYPH<147>YesGLYPH<147> button.

  • 6 Unselect the GLYPH<147>Notebook viewGLYPH<147> item in the GLYPH<147>ExtraGLYPH<147> menu; that is, make sure there is no check sign in front of the GLYPH<147>Notebook viewGLYPH<147> item, see Fig. 2.

  • 7 Select the menu item GLYPH<147>DownloadGLYPH<147> from the GLYPH<147>device selectionGLYPH<147> column, see Fig. 3.

The service PC searches the hard disk for existing GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> entries.

The following message will be displayed on the service PC.

  • 8 Install the required GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> on the service PC by clicking on the GLYPH<147>Install new firmwareGLYPH<147> menu item, see Fig. 5.

The following message will then appear on the display of the service PC:

  • 9 Select the drive with the GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> disk.
  • 10 Click on the GLYPH<147>checkGLYPH<147> button in the GLYPH<147>Install new firmwareGLYPH<147> window.
  • 11 Click on the GLYPH<147>installGLYPH<147> button in the GLYPH<147>Install new firmwareGLYPH<147> window.

The service PC copies the new GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> to the DrGLYPH<228>gerService software.

The new GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> is now installed on the service PC.

  • 12 Quit the DrGLYPH<228>gerService program.
  • 13 Remove the GLYPH<147>device softwareGLYPH<147> disk or CD-ROM from the drive.
  • 14 Shut down the service PC.
  • 15 Switch off the service PC.
