Xbox Original Controller Repair

The Duke shipped with the Xbox when the console launched in North America on November 15, 2001. Microsoft introduced the Controller S on February 22, 2002, and later made it the standard controller in other regions.

Check the label on the underside of the controller for Microsoft branding and the controller name. These controllers have a fixed cable with a proprietary original Xbox connector; Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series controllers use different connections.

The Duke has a wide, rounded shell, a large circular Xbox logo in the center, and a broad circular directional pad. The black and white buttons sit above the colored A, B, X, and Y buttons.

The Controller S has a smaller shell, a smaller oval Xbox logo, and a compact directional pad. Its black and white buttons sit below the A, B, X, and Y buttons.
