Because the vast majority of TR6s (over 80,000 units) were exported to the U.S., the most common version is the carbureted 2.5L. Due to strict emissions laws, these models used twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and produced between 104 hp and 76 hp in the final years. The domestic (UK & Europe) market received a much more powerful fuel-injected (PI) version of the same 2.5L engine. Early UK models were highly regarded for producing 150 hp, though this was later detuned to 125 hp for better drivability.
