The Sony Xperia 1 is Sony’s flagship phone announced on February 25, 2019 and released on May 30, 2019. The phone was succeeded by the Xperia 1 II and succeeded the Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 Premium. The phone was unique for its 21:9 aspect ratio which, according to Sony, would give the user an optimal video viewing experience. However, according to a review by Android Authority, the aspect ratio caused the phone to be uncommonly tall and skinny, an odd shape for most consumers. In addition, wireless charging was not an option this phone, along with a less than average battery life. At release, the Xperia 1, spec’d with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, was priced at $949.

Some users have reported software issues with device performing poorly after updating to Android 10 with Bluetooth connectivity issues appearing, along with other software-related bugs. Additionally, some users report having issues with the fingerprint sensor.

The device should have the Sony logo and have the Xperia Label on the backside. These markings clearly distinguish the make and model of the phone. Another notable marking is the inclusion of the triple camera system. The model numbers for the variants of the Xperia 1 are: J8110, J8170, J9110, J9150, and SOV40.
