Background
The Sony Cyber-shot HX series, similar to the H series, is made up of both bridge cameras and compact cameras. The HX series cameras, however, features CMOS sensors and superzoom lenses. The first of this series of cameras was the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX1 released in March 2009.
Identification
The model will usually be printed somewhere on the body, otherwise it can be located on the label on the bottom of the camera. The model name will contain the prefix "DSC" (standing for digital still camera). The model will then contain the letter 'HX' followed by the model number. The end of the model will also have a 'V' if it has GPS capabilities (for example, DSC-HX50V).
