Background
Koninklijke Philips N.V., known as Philips, is a health technology company and a former manufacturer of consumer electronics, founded in 1891 in the Netherlands. Philips introduced its first radio receiver in 1927 and demonstrated its first television set in 1935.
TPV Technology Limited, also known as TPV, is an electronics company established in 1990 in Taiwan. TPV acquired part of the Philips monitor and television brand license and manufacturing business in 2005. In 2011, Philips and TPV announced the formation of TP Vision Europe B.V., a joint venture company known as TP Vision. The joint venture was formally established in 2012 in the Netherlands, and held the property and licensing rights for Philips' television business. TPV became the sole owner of TP Vision in 2014.
TP Vision was granted an exclusive worldwide license to use the Philips brand for audio and video products and accessories from 2018.
