Introduction
Poco is a Xiaomi brand that produces a range of phones with a four-letter primary suffix: C for entry-level phones, M for entry-mid-range phones, X for upper-mid-range phones, and F for "Flagship killers," meaning phones that compete with high-end models from Xiaomi, Vivo, Redmagic, Samsung, or even Apple. The F-series Poco phones are generally rebrands of the Redmi K series or Redmi Turbo series from the Chinese market and are intended for gamers and power users. The rebrand generally involves modifications to the battery, camera sensors, and other small details, most notably and annoyingly the superior ROM option (1 TB in China, usually 512 GB max globally).
The Poco F6, launched in May 2024, is the first model in the F6 series. While it competes in raw performance with the Poco F6 Pro, it differs in its options. It comes standard with 5G and many features found on the Poco F6 Pro. It is a rebrand of the Redmi Turbo 3 with differences in the battery, the number of microphones, and the RAM (up to 16 GB) and ROM (up to 1 TB on the Redmi Turbo 3) options.
The Poco F6 is a flagship killer, initially marketed around 400-500€. It is available in three colors (black, gold, and green) and three versions for the global market:
- 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM (449€ at launch)
- 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM
- 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of ROM (499€ at launch)
In the 12 GB/512 GB configuration, this phone clearly targets gamers and users who want a high-performance machine for many years (Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 with a score announced by Poco at 1,530,662 points and measured by Antutu V11 at an average of 1,779,528).
It comes with Android 14 and Hyper OS 2, features a beautiful 6.67" screen, and weighs approximately 179 grams, making it practical for daily use as well as gaming. Because of the presence of the "s" model of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, it runs much cooler than its counterparts in the Snapdragon range.
