Background
The Nintendo Wii mini is a video game console that was released in the U.S. in November of 2013. The console is encased in red plastic with a black top-loading disc drive. The Wii mini is called the "mini" not because of its size, which is roughly the same as other Wii models, but because of its reduced cost. Nintendo released the mini as both an introductory model of the console and as an alternate for users who already had a standard Wii and wanted another one, perhaps for a different location, but without paying the full cost of the base model. The biggest differences between the Wii mini and the standard Wii is that the Wii mini lacks a disc slot; it instead has a disc tray similar to that of the GameCube. It also can't connect to the internet, unlike the standard Wii. The Wii mini also lacks an SD slot, relying entirely on built-in storage for save files and other data.
Identification
This device can be identified by model number RVL-201(USA).
Specifications
The Wii mini is approximately 2 inches high, 6.5 inches wide, 7.5 inches long, and weighs 1.5 pounds. It comes packaged with a sensor bar, power adapter, and composite AV cable. It does not support component AV or 480p, only 480i. Like the second-generation Wii (RVL-101), it lacks backwards compatibility with GameCube games and hardware.
The Wii mini features 512 megabytes of internal memory, 88 megabytes of RAM, and a CPU clock speed of 729 megahertz, the same as the standard Wii. The resolution of the mini is 480i.
