Background and Identification

The Nikon Coolpix S230 is a 10-megapixel, third generation digital camera released in February 2009. It features a 35-105 mm lens (equivalent to 3x zoom) with an aperture of 3.1-5.9. The body measures 3.6 x 2.2 x 0.8 inches, and features a 3 inch touch screen monitor. Its other helpful features include a scene auto selector, smile mode, and 4 way VR image stabilization to reduce the effects of camera shake.

The Coolpix S230 comes in silver, red, blue, purple, and black. It is extremely similar to the Coolpix S220 which was released at the same time, with the primary difference being the S230's 3 inch screen with touch capabilities and accompanying stylus, as opposed to the S220's non-touch, 2.5 inch screen. On the underside of the camera, there is a small panel that identifies it as the Nikon Coolpix S230.
