Medtronic XPS Model 3000 Repair

The Medtronic XPS Model 3000 is a debrider produced by Medtronic, an American medical device company. The debrider was originally patented for removing tumors around the acoustic nerve, though the device has been adopted as a surgical instrument for use in orthopedics and then for nasal and endoscopic sinus surgeries. The XPS 3000 System includes a power control console, footswitches, connection cables, and assorted handpieces to drive various burs, blades, drills, rasps, and cannulae. The XPS 3000 console provides power to the selected handpiece.

The XPS 3000 powers the Straight Shot M4 Microdebrider and Visao High-Speed Otology Drill, as well as the Straight Shot Magnum and Magnum II handpiece, Power (High-Speed Drill), Excalibur Hi-Torque and Hi-Speed Drills, and Skeeter (micro drill) handpieces. The system includes an integrated irrigation pump for the irrigation of blades and burs. It also features an optional second pump for motor coolant of the Visao High-Speed and Excalibur Hi-Speed Otology Drills.

The XPS 3000 includes a Single Function footswitch that controls speed and a Multifunction footswitch that controls the handpiece speed and rotation mode. The system features a finger wheel that allows the user to rotate the cutting tip of straight and curved rotatable blades. The system is compatible with non-rotating blades and burs. The XPS 3000 includes a locking mechanism to prevent unwanted rotation of non-rotating blades.
