Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 Repair

Announced March 16th, 2026 at NVIDIA GTC, the fifth generation P16s is the 16-inch counterpart to the P14s Gen 7 and the larger of Lenovo's two entry-level mobile workstations. It is offered with either Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or AMD Ryzen AI PRO 400 series processors in the same chassis, and both can be configured with NVIDIA RTX PRO 500, 1000, or 2000 Blackwell graphics.

The Gen 5 is a redesign that moves system memory to a single LPCAMM2 module, upgradeable to 96 GB. The single M.2 2280 SSD slot accepts PCIe Gen 5 drives up to 4 TB, and the 60 Wh or 90 Wh battery is customer-replaceable. Display options include a 2.8K OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the keyboard includes a numeric keypad.

The Intel model shipped in May 2026 and the AMD model in June 2026. The Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 starts at $3,069 USD.

Like other ThinkPad products, the P16s Gen 5 is identifiable by the model name and machine type printed on the label on the bottom cover. The same information is available in Windows under Lenovo Vantage, or in the BIOS setup under Main.

The Intel and AMD models share dimensions and port layout, so the machine type is the reliable way to tell them apart. The P16s Gen 5 comes in Eclipse Black.
