Lenovo ThinkPad L16 Gen 3 Repair

Announced May 12th, 2026 via press release alongside the ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 and L14 Gen 7, the third generation L16 is Lenovo's mainstream 16-inch budget business laptop. It replaces the L16 Gen 2. It comes in Intel and AMD versions that share the same plastic chassis, ports, and display options.

The Intel L16 Gen 3 uses Intel Core Ultra Series 3 (Panther Lake) processors, from the Core Ultra 5 325 up to the Core Ultra 7 365 and 356H, with integrated Intel graphics. The AMD version uses Ryzen AI 400 series processors, from the Ryzen AI 5 430 up to the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450, with Radeon 840M or 860M graphics. Both take up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory in two SO-DIMM slots and one M.2 2280 SSD. The display is a 16-inch WUXGA IPS panel, with or without touch, and the keyboard includes a numeric keypad. Lenovo lists the battery and keyboard as customer-replaceable. Other options include a 5 MP camera with IR, 4G LTE, NFC, and a smart card reader.

Lenovo said both versions would be available starting May 2026, starting at $1,439 USD. AMD models reached stores in Australia, Asia, the UK, and the eurozone in June 2026, and Intel models followed in July 2026, reaching North America by August 2026 at $1,569 USD. The L16 Gen 3 comes in Eclipse Black.

Like other ThinkPad products, the L16 Gen 3 is readily identifiable by the make and model number printed on the bottom cover, in order to aid in finding compatible parts and repair procedures. The same information is available in Windows under Lenovo Vantage, or in the BIOS setup under Main.
