Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 Repair

Announced April 14th, 2026, through Lenovo's PSREF product specifications site rather than at an event or in a press release, the ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 is Lenovo's entry-level 16-inch business laptop for small businesses and the larger sibling of the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8. It replaces the ThinkPad E16 Gen 3. The name covers three versions that share one chassis: an Intel model with Core Ultra (Panther Lake) processors, a lower-cost Intel model with Core (Wildcat Lake) processors, and an AMD model, which Lenovo added to PSREF on May 17th, 2026.

The Panther Lake model uses Intel Core Ultra 5 and Core Ultra 7 (Series 3) processors up to the 16-core Core Ultra 7 356H, and the Wildcat Lake model uses Intel Core 3, Core 5, and Core 7 (Series 3) processors. The AMD model uses Ryzen AI 300 and 400 series processors up to the Ryzen AI 7 450. All versions have integrated graphics only. Memory is DDR5-5600 in SODIMM slots: two slots for up to 64 GB on Panther Lake and AMD models, and a single slot for up to 32 GB on Wildcat Lake models. Panther Lake and AMD models also have two M.2 SSD slots (one 2242 and one 2280), while Wildcat Lake models have a single M.2 2242 slot. Display options include a WUXGA 120 Hz touchscreen and a WQXGA 120 Hz panel, and every version has a numeric keypad, a TrackPoint, an ethernet port, and a 48 Wh or 64 Wh battery.

The Panther Lake model went on sale in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore in late May 2026 and reached the US and Canada by June 2nd, 2026 at $1,399 USD. The AMD model followed in early July 2026, and the Wildcat Lake model went on sale internationally in mid-July 2026. The AMD and Wildcat Lake models reached the US in August 2026, with the Wildcat Lake model also starting at $1,399 USD. The E16 Gen 4 comes in Black.

Like other ThinkPad products, the E16 Gen 4 is readily identifiable by the make and model number printed on the bottom cover, in order to aid in finding compatible parts and repair procedures. The same information is available in Windows under Lenovo Vantage, or in the BIOS setup under Main.

All three versions look the same from the outside. Inside, Wildcat Lake models have one memory slot and one M.2 SSD slot, while Panther Lake and AMD models have two of each.
