The Leitz Laborlux S is a highly regarded, robust compound microscope introduced in 1978 for biological, clinical, and industrial laboratory applications. It features a finite optical system with a 160 mm tube length, utilising standard RMS-threaded objectives that typically provide magnifications ranging from 40x to 1000x, including oil-immersion. Highly modular, the scope was designed to accommodate various components, including different viewing heads, stages, and condensers for contrast techniques such as phase contrast and darkfield.
