Background and Identification
The Amazon Fire HD 10 (7th generation) was released in 2017, providing notable upgrades from previous Fire models. Compared to the Fire 7, the HD 10 includes an additional GB of RAM, an additional speaker, increased battery life, and more. Additionally, the Amazon Fire HD 10 includes the largest display of any in the Fire line at 10.1 inches, compared to previous sizes of 7 inches (the Fire 7) and 8 inches (the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Plus). It is also the first of the Amazon Fire line to include Alexa Hands-Free technology.
Expanding from the original Kindle’s purpose of being solely a book-reading platform, the Fire HD 10 is a fully functioning tablet. It runs Amazon’s Android operating system and comes pre-installed with Amazon Silk Browser, Amazon’s App Store, etc. As of summer 2020, the Fire HD 10 currently retails for $150 in the United States.
The Fire HD 10 is, as mentioned, notably larger than other Amazon Fire models. It is made of a black plastic encasing and has the Amazon logo printed on the back of the device.
