Background and Identification

Gateway computers was a startup computer company that was bought by ACER in 2007. Gateway Computers was created by Norm Waitt.

The Gateway P-6831FX laptop was created to be a mid-range gaming computer to compete with Dell and HP. It had an MSRP of $1,350 and for this time was considered quite a bargain. It comes equiped with an Intel core 2 Duo T5450 processor and a Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTS GPU. Additionally this computer comes equipped with 3GB of DDR2 667mhz RAM and has a 17.1" display, at a max resolution of 1,440x900.

To identify your device, flip your laptop over so you are looking at the bottom of it. In the middle right side you should see a box with the Gateway logo on it. There will be a bar-code below this logo and it will read "MODEL: P-6831FX". If your model number matches this page's then you are in the right spot! If your model number is different, then you have a laptop that looks similar, but is not the one specified on this page. If you are still unsure what to look for, please look at the image below.
