Identification
You can identify a household object by first entering your house and then choosing anything in sight. Alternatively, if you happen to be in an airport, at work, or some other place you don’t call home, you can opt to relocate the object you’re struggling to categorize. If you can stuff it through the window or jam it through the door of your house, it is, inarguably, now a household object. As a third course of action, you can peruse the categories above to see if your item in mind falls in the “household” category.
Background and Identification
The Etch A Sketch is a classic drawing toy that was invented in the late 1950s and is still popular today. The toy originally sold for $2.99, which is equivalent to about $26 as of 2019. The Etch A Sketch sold over 60,000 units in just a year and became one of the most popular toys on the market. It was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1998. As of 2019, the Etch A Sketch has sold over 100 million units throughout the world.
The Etch A Sketch made an appearance in the film Toy Story which, even though it was only a 12-second long feature, significantly boosted Etch A Sketch sales. However, a few years after this appearance, the company saw itself in financial trouble. Etch A Sketch was saved by another Toy Story appearance—this time in Toy Story 2. This second feature was 45 seconds long, which resulted in Etch A Sketch sales increasing by 20 percent.
While there have been various iterations to Etch A Sketch design over the years, the classic Etch A Sketch is red in color. It is a flat, rectangular surface with a drawing screen housed in an encasing. There are two white knobs on the bottom edges of the frame, allowing for user control of the drawing surface.
