Background and Identification ¶

An engine (or motor) converts energy into mechanical motion. There are several types of engines that power a variety of machines. Internal combustion engines create mechanical motion by burning fuel to create heat, which is then used to power the motion. Electric motors take electrical energy and use it to drive a mechanical motion. Pneumatic motors use compressed air to power mechanical work.
