Background and Identification ¶

The Coby Kyros MID1042 is an Android tablet produced in 2012. At the time this device, along with many others, ran on Android 4.0, with this specific model being the largest having a 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen. The hardware itself containing a 1 GHz Cortex A8 CPU with 1 GB of RAM and 4.3 GB of flash memory all responded properly. It's special features include a 2 MP camera, microphone, as well as a large number of input ports. The software, unfortunately, has flaws. There was large claim of the device taking to long to open programs.

On the outside, the tablet has a clip-on backplate and supporting screws for the I/O panel. Inside, the tablet has a motherboard, a battery, a touchscreen, and some interconnecting devices. The tools required to fully disassemble the tablet are following:

Tools ¶

  1. Plastic Wedge
