Background

The Beyerdynamic DT 880 are over-ear semi-open professional headphones, initially released in 1980. The DT 880 comes in multiple nominal impedance variants for different environments, and has multiple versions including: DT 880 M, DT 880 Pro, DT 880 Premium, DT 880 Edition.

The DT 880 are marketed as semi-open headphones, but behave closer to fully open headphones. The headphones has a few nominal impedance variants, such as 32 ohm, 250 ohm, and 600 ohm, for different environments, with the harder-to-drive variants requiring an amplifier.
