Paraffin baths and whirlpool bath therapy are used to treat stiff joints, soft tissue injuries, and open wounds (such as burns), to promote circulation, and to provide pain relief.
A paraffin wax bath is a method of applying heat to an injured or stiff area. The wax insulates the heat from the bath as well as body heat, which relaxes stiff muscles and tendons and can relieve pain. It also reduces inflammation and promotes circulation.
Whirlpool baths are a form of hydrotherapy, which takes advantage of water at various temperatures and pressure levels to promote circulation .
