Volume knob stuck at highest setting

My stepdad bought me the Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 500P headset two years ago and recently the volume control stopped working. Currently it's stuck at the highest setting. So, when I play some games that does not have their own volume control it's super loud to the point where I can't play it with my headset without causing my ears to explode. Anyone else have this issue and possibly a fix? Thank you!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I'm having the same problem. They were working fine and then suddenly the volume just turned up really loud and won't go down

by

Yeah, I have the same issue as well. I don't think anyone has the solution to this problem.

im having the sam issue with the stealth 400's im thinking either the scroll peices for the headphones are internally stripped or a solder broke.. =/ wont know for sure until I take them apart lol

by

Same issue here. I think i have had success putting side pressure on the roller when i adjust it but is is inconsistent. Any luck figuring out the cause? before i take mine apart also.

by

I have the same issue, about to ditch turtle beach since it’s a known issue and they won’t do anything about it.

You're definitely not alone.

As mentioned in a comment in the link above, try power cycling them.

ok, I have ended up removing the POT.

I am using the 400xp stealth in a PC application and before I had a full volume only. very hard to control with the pc volume control

with the pot removed, I can control the headsetbetter with the pc system volum controller

by

just figured out.

If I set the device up as Realtek digital audio device on PC and not select the Stealth, then my PC can control the sound without any issue. I which I tried that before I took off the pot.

by

Coxwain can you please explain what you did to fix the issue? Nothing happens when I switch to realtek and lower the volume. Still stuck on highest volume

I have this issue with my 420x and after some research the only fix i could find would be to replace the volume potentiometer but that requires taking the headset apart and soldering a new one in, no problem for me, but where does one find the super slim potentiometers used in these headsets?

Take the potentiometer out, get the part number off from it, eBay the part number... Solved. Solder new one on when it arrives.

I have takent the part off the TB stealth 500p, here are the markings

CT1508

B104

now I have to try to find the potentionmeter to replace it

by

I think its a 16mm x2mm dial

by

I haven't had much luck. I finally got the 16x2 B104 which are 100k resistor potentionmeters and the sound is too faint.

not sure if there is another issue or not but I think I will abandon this project.

by

BTW I have extra potentiometers 16x2mm T104 if anyone wants a couple. I had to buy in bulk. Just pay a couple$ for shipping
