Click wheel will not allow to me to change volume?

The buttons on the click wheel work but the ability to scroll through menus or change the volume are gone, im thinking water damage or just age, any help will be appreciated.

michael yosick, the first thing you want to do is to backup your iPod and to restore the firmware through iTunes. If that does not change anything, it is possible that you have a failure of the click wheel circuitry. Disassemble your iPod using these guides. Clean the logic board with 90%, or better, isopropyl alcohol. Clean the connectors and the cable ends properly. After that, you can try and reevaluate for the click-wheel function. If that has not change, you may need to exchange it. There is not specific guide for it, but the teardown will show you how to get there. The click wheel itself is available at places like this, and many more. Working on the Nano, is a bit of a PITA but it is doable.Hope this helps, good luck.
