If your INSE S6X light is blinking and making a high-pitched whistle, it usually indicates an air blockage (clog) or a blocked/worn roller brush. The whistling happens because the motor is working hard to pull air through a restricted space, and the blinking lights act as a warning system.

Follow these steps to quickly identify and fix the issue:

1. Check for Clogs and Clean the Filters

A dirty HEPA filter or a blockage in the airflow pathway is the most common culprit.

  • Empty the dustbin and check the intake port for debris.
  • Remove and clean the filters. Wash the mesh strainer and HEPA filter with cool water, and ensure they are 100% air-dried before putting them back.
  • Check the metal tube: Look down the metal extension wand to make sure no large clumps of hair or debris are stuck.

2. Inspect the Motorized Floor Brush

If the blockage isn’t in the bin or tube, it’s likely in the floor head.

  • Remove the roller brush: Turn the brush head over and look for tangled hair or fibers wrapped around the brush roll.
  • Clear the ends: Hair often gets under the end-cap of the roller, which stops it from spinning and triggers a clog protection mode.
  • Check the neck/hinge of the motorized brush for any wedged debris.

3. Isolate the Motor

To confirm if the issue is in the attachments or the main motor:

  • Detach the metal tube and brush head so you are holding only the main handheld vacuum motor.
  • Turn the motor on. If the whistling and blinking stop, your motor is fine, and the clog is in one of the attachments.

4. Check for Motor/Seals Damage

If the handheld motor still whistles and flashes on its own with no attachments connected, dust may have entered the motorhead, or a seal may be damaged.

If the issue continues even after a deep clean, your battery may be struggling or the motor may require replacement.
