Mic not working on calls/voice memo's not recording after moisture

Ok, slightly different case, voice memo's won't record, and callers can't hear me on a call, UNLESS it's on speakerphone. The phone got a little moisture in it I think, because it thought headphones were plugged in when they weren't, but that went away overnight in rice.

I'm assuming it's the mic on the top of the phone that works when you have it on speakersphone, and the mic on the bottom is only for voicememo's and making calls when not on speakerphone.

Again, my phone won't record voicememo's and callers can't hear me unless it's on speakerphone. I also tried the cardboard trick, and that didn't do anything.

Would replacing the dock connector fix my issue, since it has the bottom mic built into that part?

jackie 1, it most likely will, but it is not a definite. It all will depend if there is any other damage related to the moisture. Rice is a great first aid, but it will not prevent corrosion, and it will not remove all liquid that might accumulate under EMI shields etc. I would clean to logic board with isopropyl alcohol and replace the dock connector. RE-evaluate after those repairs. Good Luck.

Cool, thanks. For the time being, I took off the back cover and put it in rice again, which maybe will get more moisture out. I was pressure washing my fence yesterday and wanted to listen to my headphones. So I put my iphone in a ziplock bag in my pocket, and thought that would keep it dry (big fence and my pants did get wet). When I was done, the bag had a tiny amount of moisture in it, hardly anything. These phones can't seem to take anything, not ever a drop of water. My old star-tac phone went swimming with me multiple times, and always worked after I took it apart and set it in the sun.
