could be: driver, hdd errors, system sw errors, kbd connector issue, bad kbd, problem on the MB.

u will need an external usb kbd to troubleshoot. If that works, it is likely not a MB problem.

If u don't know how to do any of the following, just search the inet.

1st clean up the system = open a cmd prompt as admin and enter

chkdsk C: /f That will check for disk errors. It MAY take a long time and appear locked up - just wait.

Then enter sfc /scannow that will also take a while.

then enterDism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Now search the inet for the latest kbd driver for that computer. Download it.

delete and reinstall the kbd driver - DON'T delete the one for the usb kbd u are using.

If it still doesn't work, it may be a bad kbd or connection. That will require opening it up. Or u can just continue to use the external kbd.

Disconnect the kbd, clean the connections if necessary and reconnect it. These connections are fragile, so search for how to remove a kbd b4 doing it.

Unfortunately, there is no way to test a kbd short of substitution. B4 u buy another one.

you might want to do a repair install of the OS, but it isn't likely going to help - but one never knows.
